About Us

The company was founded in 1950 by Paul Grosman, father of the current Managing Director Phillip Grosman. From the outset, Sabena Fashions was an innovator. Paul Grosman would travel to England, France and Italy each year bringing back the latest Ladies coat designs and fabrications.

Exclusive fabrics were imported and all garments were made in Sabena's then factory in Casselton Place Melbourne, by trained European tailors.

By the early 1960s Sabena Fashions was a household label, supplying all of the major department stores across the country, as well as a significant number of specialty shops with local coats, jackets and rainwear.

During the 1970s Paul's two sons joined the business and the Sabena Fashion Group had developed into an importer and manufacturer of medium to lower priced garments, including all types of coats, sportswear, denim, knitwear and menswear.

By the 1980s and 1990s, the coat business was so strong that the other items the company was producing were slowly phased out in favour of Sabena being "the" coat house in Australia.

Sabena today now produces two womans coat brands "Sabena" and "Pretty in Pink". These brands are distributed throughout Australia and New Zealand and are housed in over 500 boutiques.
